Bear gets stuck in factory ceiling!

This week for my reading our goal was Select from a wide range of genre when reading independently.

We chose 3 articles from different category's (category's like world and sport), then had to list the

who, what, where, when and why; We also had to make a better title for the text.

My work from this week is bellow. :)


Article 1:

Prime Minster receives Covid-19 vaccination - National 

(They spelt the title wrong)

Better headline; One step closer to vaccinating the whole country

Who; Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the chief adviser Juliet Gerrard 

What; They got their vaccination

Where; Auckland New Zealand 

When; Don’t know but the article was published on the 20th of June

Why; She got her vaccine because there is covid

Jelly effect; It was a big milestone to the country 

Shifts in formality; “It was pretty pain free” “For me it is a real big milestone to be apart of what is the biggest

vaccination event and the biggest health roll out of our history is a really important milestone for me” 


Article 2:

Bear gets stuck in factory ceiling - Interest Article 

Better title; How did the bear get up there?

Who; Bear, employees 

What; The bear gets stuck in the ceiling employers have to stay in the cafeteria 

Where; Volvo factory (car manufacturer in Virginia USA)

When; Doesn’t say but the article was published on the 14th of june

Why; Don’t know

Jelly effect; bear in the ceiling 

Shifts in formality; “a suitable site for release” 


Article 3:

Swimming NZ to send 7 swimmers to Tokyo Olympics - Sport 

Better title; The super seven swimmers 

Who; Olympic swimmers

What; Seven swimmers going to the Olympics for the first time 

Where; Tokyo Olympics

Why; Because the Olympics are coming up

When; 2020 but postponed to 2021 and the article was published on the 16th of June 

Jelly effect; One of the swimmers Erika Fairweather is only 17 and she is the youngest athlete to represent

New Zealand at the Olympics

Shifts in formality; “She is thrilled to be heading to her first Olympic games”
